Blackjack Table Layout

The blackjack is typically played on an arc-shaped table. In land-based casinos, the table is big enough to accommodate a large number of players at a time. Generally, you will find blackjack tables will accommodate seven players. In gambling venues on the internet, you will find that there are many players because space allows for an infinite number of players.

How to Play Blackjack for Beginners

Blackjack is played with a deck of 52 cards. Some points are ascribed to each of the card denominations. Kings, Queens and Jacks are worth 10 points. While cards two right through to 10 is worth the face value. The Ace cards are quite different because they can either be counted as a 1 or an 11. The player’s primary goal is to get as close to a 21 total as possible without going over.

The best total would be getting precisely 21 with only two cards. If the dealer also receives a two-hand 21 total, then the hand would be considered a push or a tie, and you will get your original bet back. Your hand will win if the dealer draws a 21 in three or more cards.

Blackjack Rules

While we may have told you that the main objective is to get close to the 21 and not going over. The other aim that you have to keep in mind is that you have to beat the dealer. To beat the dealer, you have to make sure that you don’t go over 21 (busting). Here are a few steps that are available to the player when playing:

Stand – The player will pat the hand with his hand which means he does not need to be dealt any more cards.

Hit: To hit means that you want another card. You have to be careful about hitting too many times because you may end up busting.

Double – The player will indicate to the dealer that he/she wished to double his/her bet and will then receive one more card.

Split- Should it happen that a player has a pair of cards that have 10 points, then the player is allowed to double the bet and separate the cards into two separate hands. The dealer must give each hand. The player can then decide to hit, double or stand.

Surrender- This is when the dealer decides to forfeit half of his bet and keeps the other. The player will choose this option usually when they see that they are about to lose against the dealer. So, instead of losing the entire bet the player will decide to surrender and lose half of it.

Tips for how to play and win blackjack

It is important to play each game in an optimum way so you can win. This fact means that you need to have the ability to count cards. If the dealer has upcards for 7 to 10 as well as an Ace, then the player should not stop hitting until they reach a total of 17 or more.
